Our Historic District
20 – 26 Morningside Drive South is a Historic District in the heart of Green’s Farms, across from Green’s Farms Elementary School.
The 1853 Victorian farmhouse was the home of the husband-and-wife artists, Walter and Naiad Einsel for 60 years. In 2006 the Einsels received a Preservation Award for their South Morningside Drive home. Read more about the History of this home in Dan Woog’s article, Developer, Preservationists Battle Over Artists’ Property On Morningside Drive.
In July 2017, the property was sold to a developer from California as an “Unique opportunity to own a piece of Westport's History”.
For more than a year, the developer has submitted plans for over-scaled new home construction on the property that has been repeatedly denied by Westport’s Historic District Commission for not complying with the character of the Historic District property.
More to come…
